New ideas

All things change, there is no constant. Whoever tells you that there is no change is either smoking some really wack tobaccy, or trying to sell you an extended warranty for your out of date car. The saying that you can't walk in the same river twice is also on that tobaccy, because you can't even step into the same river once. Every second there is change so stepping into the same river with both feet in is absolutely preposterous. Lets see here, since my last posting in 2013 I think... Wow, a whole bloody decade of absolute nothingness. Goes to show exactly how much I get on and just type. Lets see here, since 2013... We've had several absolute disasters nationally and globally due to inept leadership on both sides of the aisle. I've gotten into several VSOs (Veteran Service Organizations) The Marine Corps League, Navy Club, Interveterans Council of Sangamon County, Veterans Assistance Commission of Sangamon County, and the Veterans Advisory Council for the Mayor or Springfield. Currently a Chaplain for the Collier-Harrison Detachment, Department of Illinois, Marine Corps League, District Commandant and Credentials Committee Chair for the Department of Illinois, Marine Corps League, Past Ship Commander, Senior Executive Officer for the USS Sangamon Ship #32 Navy Club. Master-At-Arms Illinois Squadron, Navy Club USA. Vice-Commander and Treasurer for the Interveterans Council of Sangamon County, board member for the Veterans Assistance Commission of Sangamon County, and finally an advisor for the Mayor of Springfield. Changed jobs from Office Depot to Micromedical Technologies to Wells Fargo to Mission-BBQ, where I'm at currently as a Dining Room Lead, Senior Catering Captain, and Designated Driver for BAMBAM, our 6x6 tactical vehicle. No AC and no power steering, but you can open the front windshield and get some awesome air! No help for the lack of power steering.

Ramblings of a Springfieldian

I wonder, for a moment, what this country is coming to? Sure we have all the crazies in the population centers decrying the need for weapons. Yes, lets start with this! I really hate to go political, but this needs to be brought to existence. For the past 3 decades and some change, Illinois has seen exactly why GUN CONTROL DOESN'T WORK! Chicago, for example, has the highest gun murder rate in the state of Illinois. It also has the strictest gun control laws in the state, (ie. NO GUNS IN THE CITY PROPER) yet, the city still boasts the highest murder rates period. Why is this? Is there something that I'm not understanding? Is there some reason that a city with strict gun laws has such a high homicide rate? The reason are, quite simply; 1. ONLY LAW ABIDING CITIZENS OBEY LAWS! A criminal doesn't give two shits about coming into a diner and shoot the fucking place up if no one can stop him/her from doing so. 2. CRIMINALS AND THOSE WHO ARE KILLING INNOCENTS HAVE ZERO VALUE FOR LIFE! As soon as this point soaks into your brain housing group, I'll continue. All of the previous school shootings, cry outs for attention, what have you, have all been very graphic and almost immediately, as a knee jerk reaction, there has been an outcry for MORE GUN CONTROL LAWS as if the laws currently on the books aren't enough. Newsflash for you who think this way, in regards to Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting MISTER LANZA HAD VIOLATED FOURTY-THREE STANDING LAWS IN HIS KILLING SPREE! It's not about having more laws to enforce, at the expense of those that had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, it's about enforcing the laws currently on the books!
Enough on the gun control issue right now. Let's now talk about the case of PFC (SGT for those of you paying attention) Bergdahl. I don't know how they do this in the Army, but in the Corps, if you went over the line with only some water and a knife when you were supposed to be on post, YOU ARE A DESERTER! Plain and simple, yes? Just why did the President think that trading 5 Taliban officials would go over so well for just one "POW" (I still say he deserted)? Sure, President Reagan negotiated for the release of hostages in Iran, however, that is where the similarities end. President Reagan negotiated for over 200 Americans that didn't leave their posts, not just 1. And Reagan made the negotiations BEFORE BEING SWORN IN AS PRESIDENT! If this President had a watchdog media like Nixon and Bush Jr had, right after he announced that he had gone around Congress (AGAIN) Capitol Police would have been there to arrest him for Treason and Sedition.
Now on to the illegal issues. YOU DON'T GIVE 12 MILLION ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS A CHANCE FOR CITIZENSHIP AND JOBS WHEN YOU HAVE OVER 12 MILLION AMERICANS WITHOUT JOBS!! We now see where this President's view is located. THE ABSOLUTE DESTRUCTION OF AMERICA AS A WORLD POWER! Considering that the Commander-in-Chief has dual-citizenship (British American) just why is he the President?

Another year in the bag

Albeit this is only the Fourth of July, it has been a full year for me. A year older, but questionably a year wiser by the demonstration of the current geopolitical situation we now find ourselves intertwined. But enough of a topic that makes more enemies than friends. Since last time, I've been hired by Office Depot as one of their logistic support personnel. Sounds very good, except that I've had the most troubling problem of not finding a few small items (ie. A voice recorder and paper punch reinforcers.) Rather troubling in my mind. I'm also still looking for a full time job with the State of Illinois. As I wait the twenty two minutes until the day that this great nation decided to declare its independence from its parents, I too await the dawn to see myself in a new demographic for the telemarketers. And seeing that it is Independance Day for all Americans I must ask why Lil Wayne decided to not just rip down the National Ensign, but to also trample it on the ground, and not expect people to be negative to him. Myself included, I would have turned him into a grease stain if he had even started that with me. I have seen numerous coffins of brothers and sisters in arms draped in her shield and bars, giving their absolute last to this country, so that some no load cumguzzling jizzmop can disrespect the very symbol that that person gave their life?I know that he has the right to do this, but his right was secured by someone who had and have more sac than he will ever hope to have. It's also time for these people to stop hiding behind their right to say absolute bullshit and take accountability for the shit that it causes.

New things

Hello again my friends. It has been an excruciating long time since I have had the opportunity to put fingers to keyboard and just let loose. Since the last time I have wrote, we have re-elected the President and received more of the same bullshit since 2008, the mall out here has gotten a complete face lift, which still isn't fully completed, several new businesses have come onto the scene, as well as several have left, I'm a daddy to a baby boy, Michael, lost my job of five and a half years, and all sorts of other small things that I'll get into in future episodes. Until then, jamatashita.

Summertime in the city

It looks like Sokaro took my opening line. Probably from reading too many of my submissions, alas, I digress. The city of Springfield is starting to get a lot wetter and warmer recently. For about the past few days or so we have been running our air conditioner nonstop just to keep our little 5 room apartment around seventy degrees. Thinking on this I also find myself thinking on why pools open only after Memorial Day. Why don't the pools open after the first three days of eighty degree temperatures? It would bring in more money for the pools if they were open and less people complaining about the heat. Another thing that tells us the summer is here is all the high school kids leaving school a full hour early three days in a row. Exam time is here again for the students!! I can remember fourteen years ago, (Yes, I know that places my age) when I heard exam time for the eighth time (Senior year finals). The only thing on my mind in that sixth final exam wasn't the formulas that my teacher was looking for, it was on heading out the double doors of SHS for the last time as a student and the first time as an alumni. I wonder if the feeling has changed over the decades?

Another day in the life of a Springfieldian

Welcome again, my dear readers, to the blog of Springfield. It has come to my attention that our lovely public transportation system (SMTD) have ALREADY published and are distributing the new bus schedules that won't even go into effect until June 6th. I think its a pretty good idea to get the people up to speed as soon as possible on route changes, but a whole two to three weeks is pretty far advanced thinking to say the least. The new maps, of which I am honored to own one, not only show the main routes, but also the supplementary routes, and of all surprise, NIGHT SERVICE!!! In July I'll expect another map update for the complete revamp of the service as NONE of the current routes will be the way they are now. Lets see how long these routes stay up before they change them again and if they change the transfer center from Fifth and Capitol to the Amtrak station when and if we get the high speed rail here.

Welcome

Greetings friends and readers, I am, as my dear friend says, the ever insolent Stewart Tris. Senior Staff Writer for the online magazine Mirror Magazine. As my friend told me that he had posted a comment for Caeseria on Staying Home And Loving It saying that the 7S South State bus with the Springfield Mass Transit District (SMTD) was being discontinued. I know for a fact of one new night service for the UIS/LLCC students of the city. This I know will be a most utilized route, alas, I also see that ALL of the current routes serviced by SMTD will either be fully modified or deleted in entirety and replaced with other, sometimes sleeker routes or by hour trippers. How does that get your boat as most of the people of Springfield use these busses to get to and from work, and without reliable transportation to and from their place of employ will indeed be iresome. And again with the MacArthur Boulevard extension to I-72 with speed limit on this extension being at 45MPH when this extension skirts within15-20 yards from a residential area laden with small children and deaf people. How do city planners and civil engineers have this kind of colossal brain fart and maintain their jobs? How also do they keep their jobs when one of the connecting streets which connects to this subdivision of children has NO traffic light? Let us also not forget the Peace Officers who repeatedly blow the red light on Ninth and Converse, some with lights and some without.
